Back on Track Quick Wraps are a perfect choice for lower leg protection
Product review for Back on Track Quick Wraps
Standing wraps or No Bow wraps are something every horse owner should have at the ready in case their horse injures his lower leg. I learned that the hard way when my horse injured a ligament last fall. After borrowing wraps and getting a quick instruction on how to wrap the leg, I spent the next three weeks perfecting my technique so my wraps looked halfway decent. Being new to the who wrapping thing, I was also super scared I was going to create a pressure point and bow a tendon. That experience is what introduced me to the Back on Track Quick Wraps.
What I like about the Back on Track Quick Wraps
My favorite part is how easy the wraps are to put on. Their outer neoprene shell keeps the wrap clean and in place for extended wear. Inside, the wraps are like a pillow wrap for your horse’s legs. The best part, the two pieces stick together with velcro. If you’ve ever struggled to put pillow wraps and standing bandages on a fidgety horse you will like how quick and easy these go on,
Another thing I like about the Back on Track wraps is they are machine washable. When they get dirty I just throw them into a laundry bag and into the washer they go. Let them sit out to dry and they are ready for the next use.
Versatility is another benefit to these wraps.
They are great standing wraps for travel and in the stall overnight. Legs stay protected and the circulation they create keeps the lower legs from stocking up. You can use them before riding to loosen up the tendons and joint if your horse starts out a little stiff. Or, after riding to help the legs recover quickly.
Huge benefit for injuries
Like I originally stated, I had bought these for a horse that had strained a tendon. The benefit at the time was how much easier they were to apply than the traditional standing wraps. The wow factor came when my daughter’s horse-hung her leg up in a high tension wire fence. After assessing the injury we thought the worst was a scrape. Unfortunately, the next day the leg was swollen from above the hock all the way to the hoof. I was sure we would need the vet. But it was the weekend and I really didn’t want to pay for an emergency visit from the vet. So, I put the Back on Track Wraps on and tucked her in for the night. Fingers crossed.
I was shocked the next morning to find no swelling. Even the mare’s hock was almost back to normal. After removing the wrap for the day, the swelling did begin to return. We decided that we would just leave them on for the majority of the day for 2 – 3 days as the horse didn’t seem lame on the leg. By the end of the week, the leg was back to normal and only a scab across the cannon bone remained.
